Beginning Handling Class

Four weeks long

New classes start the first Wednesday of each month

Small class size (no more than five per class) in order to focus abundant attention on each student

Cost:  $95

If you’re thinking of entering the exciting world of dog shows, our four-week class teaches basic handler and dog skills needed for AKC (American Kennel Club) and CKC (Canadian Kennel Club) judging. Setting up your dog for examination, baiting your dog and moving your dog are all included.  In addition, we will coach you through the mechanics of how and when to enter shows, what to expect and do prior to going into the ring, and how to condition your dog.  You also will practice ring-throughs; simulated dog shows that will prepare you for the pressure of your first time in the ring.

Beginning students are welcomed into our classes not only by instructors, but also by other show folks who are regulars in our classes.  Around the Ring students have developed a sense of community and are ready with advice, encouragement and friendship.

We welcome prospective adult and junior handlers to participate in our classes!  Let us help you and your dog get started in the right direction with a positive and challenging atmosphere for both dog and handler.
